Marty almost stepped on this copperhead snake in our yard today! Yikes!!

One scared mama

Yesterday John and the girls were playing out in the yard. I was sitting on the porch swing. I heard John start crying and he ran up the steps yelling "ANTS!!!" He's been bitten before so I didn't think much of it. We picked the ants off of him and put a little ammonia on them to take the itch away. Within 5 minutes he was clawing at his throat and crying and coughing. I ran in the house and yelled for Marty and told him John was allergic to the ants.  Marty and I grabbed him and put him in the van and headed toward town. I called 911 to let them know we were on the way. The EMTs met us in the parking lot of their office. John and I got in the ambulance and we headed to our local hospital. The EMT started an IV. John cried just a little but he got very upset when he couldnt see his daddy following us in our van. When we arrived at the hospital John was covered in hives from head to toe and was bright red. He was given an antihistamine and a steroid after we waited for what seemed like quite a while. By this time the redness was lessening on it's own and he'd stopped coughing and scratching at his throat. We only had to stay a few hours in the ER. We left with a Rx for Benadryl, a steroid, Pepcid and an Epi pen.
I have never been that scared. So thankful God was watching over our sweet boy!! Today Marty was killing ants in our yard and John yelled from the deck. "Yeah, Dad!!! You my hero, Dad!"

Difficult Things?

Last night God asked a question of me.

"What if I asked you to do the difficult things?  The hard things?  Would you do it for me?"

My heart is saying "YES!!!" but my weak mind fears what "the hard things" are.

Yes, Lord, I will do the hard things, the difficult things for You!   Am I afraid?  yes. But I know God will see me through whatever His plan is for my life.  I should not be afraid and I am trying not to be.

Old?

Brinley just asked me if Jesus could be allergic to poison ivy. I told her he was like everyone else when He lived on earth. She said "really???" Then she said "I wonder who was older than Jesus. Maybe Granny Mae!" Oh my!! LOL
